Creating the Ultimate Cognitive Development Program
My sister was diagnosed with Developmental Delays at age 3, and we committed the next few years to seeking the best and brightest experts to develop a "silver bullet". The best suggestion was to create a "Sensory Gym" in our home to support her therapy, and long story short, it worked! Four years ago, we took this success and built a gym for the public: WeeZee - The Science of Play! An incredible 18,000sqft cognitive development center that utilizes cutting edge tech to help kids grow, but it looks like a playground! Working alongside universities and hospitals, we are well on our way to establishing this as the cutting edge in the future of cognitive development in children.

Leaps Of FaithSkydiving With My 79 Year Old Grandmother
My grandmother was given 6-9 months to live when she was diagnosed with cancer. Rather than go through treatment, she decided she would go all out in her remaining time on earth. This is the family and attitude I grow up with. Among lots of other equally impressive events on her Bucket List, she brought us to skydive from the highest tandem jump in the USA - 15,000ft at Cape Canaveral. Also along for the jump was my brother--a paraplegic badass, and my uncle--the longest living quadriplegic in the USA. What I Learned: You have no excuse not to execute. Freefalling Off A 1,000ft Bridge in Zimbabwe Held only by what looked like a fraying rubber band, my cousins and I bungee jumped off of Victoria Falls, a bridge over the highest waterfall in the world. When I was 16, I was shy, introverted, and afraid to leave my shell. Then I jumped. After that, every action of my life was full force, because you never know when that fraying rubber band is going to break. What I Learned: The best results are sometimes the result of the scariest situation. |
Awesome BlundersSnowboarding Where I Should Have Died
I joined a few strangers in hiking up 1,000ft past what any chairlift would take us to hit some of the freshest powder I'd ever touch. We strapped in, and plummeted down the backside of Brighton Mountain in the opposite direction of civilization. Halfway down we found ourselves in 4 feet of untrekable powder, in woods far away from any humans, with little more than an extra pair of frozen goggles and a pretty view of the Wasatch Mountains. Fortunately we were able to traverse the mountain to a climbable area, and navigate our way through the backcountry to make it safely back to the lodge--just in time for lunch. What I Learned: Some of the best ideas are the worst ideas, and you'll have to bust your ass to survive after those. Create the Coolest College Website Ever Friends of mine came to the conclusion that Lectures are really time to practice your drawing skills in your notebook. I then founded DrawingInClass.com, where students could snap a picture of their doodles, submit them to the site, and have them posted in internet glory to be voted up by its users. On launch date, the site had 3,000 unique visitors from Maryland alone, retaining roughly 65% of that in daily visitors. We monetized the site by partnering with university groups to advertise their events or clubs on our posts, utilizing our unique creative twist to get their word out. The site would still exist today if its URL had not been irreversibly hijacked by a Japanese spam site later that year. What I Learned: Some of the best ideas will still get hijacked by Japanese spam. |
